In March 2016, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) joined the JIPS’ Executive Committee. This new addition to JIPS’ governance team comes shortly after the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was also welcomed on board in late 2015.
Over the last few years of operations, JIPS engagement with both OCHA and UNDP have become well established through collaboration at the global and country levels. With news of both agencies joining the JIPS team in a formal capacity, JIPS is looking forward to complementing this collaboration with enhanced strategic support channeled through their Executive Committee participation.
In particular, OCHA’s guidance will be fruitful for specific areas of JIPS 2015-2017 strategy, including expanding our field support and enhancing focus on joint analysis and the impact of our capacity building endeavours. UNDP’s partnership promises to strengthen the relevance of JIPS’ work for developmental responses to forced displacement.
