The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development makes an ambitious commitment to “leave no one behind” in its implementation. To ensure that this commitment is effectively met, several vulnerable population groups are identified for attention in the Agenda including migrants, refugees, and other forcibly displaced persons (FDPs). This, however, requires enhancing the availability of better data and evidence on these population groups. UNHCR, JIPS and Stats4SD have worked towards this goal within the Expert Group on Refugee and IDP Statistics (EGRIS), to analyse the feasibility of disaggregating the recommended 12 priority SDG indicators by forced displacement.
This report is the result of these efforts. Exploring a set of 12 indicators, which were identified as priority in consultation with the EGRIS, the document provides a review of the availability of published disaggregated SDG indicators and assesses the feasibility of estimating them based on existing data. We hope that this document will encourage National Statistics Offices (NSOs) and custodian agencies to improve the availability of data on forced displacement aligned to the SDGs.
